Summer family vacation

Well, we did it, we took Lorna on our first family vacation and while it wasn't perfect (nothing is) we had fun and bonded as a family.  Hamilton had an abrupt job change just a little bit before the vacation so there was some scrambling, standing in the driveway trying to get WiFi and an early departure for him, but we had fun!  After deliberating what to do and how far to drive or fly we decided on a close drive with a relaxed "stay still" destination, the beach, so we headed to Galveston.  With Paul having attended medical school there we had a better idea of where to stay and what to do.  We made it to Houston Friday night and stayed at my mom's and then Saturday after a nice lunch Hamilton and I headed down by ourselves for a night away.  Sunday was the 4th and Nanny brought Lorna down and we had a great 4th.

My mom, Nanny, came down with us and when Hamilton had to head back to Dallas for work she stayed with Lorna and I.  Lorna loved the beach and the waves and would fearlessly charge into them and so after a while we would head back to the house for some pool time.  I was so glad I had hauled the pool with us and could set it up in the shade.  Lorna is definitely a water baby, if it is there she wants to be in the middle of it and pouring it on Mommy.  Lorna loves her Nanny!We headed back to Dallas with great memories, a bit more relaxed and connected as a family and a lot of sand and shells.  I think we will definitely do this again!
